Leslie welcomes everyone's questions and presence if they want to learn more about the "feel & release" approach to handling horses that she learned from the late Bill Dorrance (1906 - 1999).  She co-authored and published the classic training manual "True Horsemanship Through Feel" for Bill Dorrance just prior to his passing, July 20, 1999.

This event is open to five students for the weekend -- and two demo horses on Thursday, August 14th.  Registration confirmation and deposit for the riders and for demo horse owners is due on or before June 30, 2014. DEMO NIGHT!

Demo night on Thursday, August 14, 2014, will prepare riders and auditors to understand the concepts, philosophy, techniques and applications of feel & release as it was taught to Leslie Desmond by Bill Dorrance.

Discussion / demonstration for the evening will center on issues that will benefit owners of young, troubled or untrained horses, as well as older horses that have more than one owner or competition discipline expected of them.

Topics include: appropriate boundaries relative to specific circumstances (leading, trailer loading, hoof care and grooming while tied up at a rail or in cross-ties, mounting, dismounting, other practical situations in day-to-day interactions!); placement and timing of the feet; positioning of the head and neck, shoulders, ribs, loin and hips to ensure safe, accurate and pleasurable handling of the horse.

These tutorials suitable for riders and competition horses at all levels, and from riding styles.

Cost for demo horse 2,000 SEK.    There is room for 3 (three) horses on the Thursday night demo! You don't want to miss this!

Clinic tuition (5,000 SEK) covers 90-minute sessions (one-on-one) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 14 - 17, 2014.   Requirements: completion of all forms, pre-payment and purchase of the 10-CD audio book, Horse Handling and Riding Through Feel, available from Kalvefalls, AB (Asa and Olle). Tack.

Question-Answer sessions with the audience will take place at the coffee breaks and for 30 minutes after the clinic, before we adjourn for dinner.

See Schedule below.

Leslie welcomes auditors 12 and under at no charge.

Auditors 13 - 21 years welcome at 350 SEK daily walk-in charge or 1,000 SEK in advance paid online. (See below).

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

This 4-day seminar is perfect for riders of all riding styles and abilities, including trainers with students of their own who have reached an impasse in their riding or training progress.

As needed, horse owners will be coached in "leading-the-partner" and horse handling skills that include:

- standing still for grooming and hoof-care

- leading and tying in a wide variety of situations

- trailer loading in any sort of transport

- mounting and dismounting in a way that does not cause the horse to become imbalanced

- upward and downward transitions / from the ground and to the saddle!

(What does this mean? Walk-to trot, trot-to-canter-canter-to-gallop!

Gallop to stop, in a single stride without pulling the mouth. ??????! How is this done?

This is a good opportunity to come and learn how to train a horse for this without excessive pressure, repetitions or the requirement of submission to achieve the goal.

- development of a soft feel on the lead rope, and ensuring accurate hoof placement and timing with  lightest possible hands on the reins.

- getting to Yes! with a difficult horse!

(What does this mean?  To start. Leslie will teach the handler not to crowd or to correct a pushy horse, but, instead, to set the horse up to succeed so that correction of this problem is never necessary.)
